On the second weekend of May, Wordfringe moves to Banchory for two days of literary
events at Woodend Barn.
Lemon Tree Writers host a workshop on writing fiction by award-winning author Laura
Hird, and launch their own latest anthology Journeys. Composer/sound artist
Miriama Young is joined by poet Catherine Bowman, visiting from the States, for
a CD launch, and pianist Susanne Olbrich joins storyteller Margot Henderson for
an evening ranging from tango to Zen poetry.
Susanne Olbrich and Margot Henderson present a workshop on the Sunday exploring
creative writing and music improvisation.
There's a set of readings from Banchory-based group Deeside Writers, then the weekend
concludes with Laura Hird returning to read with well-known local writer Esther
Woolfson, whose book Corvus was recently featured on Radio 4.
In the Lang Byre at Woodend Barn throughout the weekend you can see the exhibition
The Painted Word and
listen to Speak Volumes,
an installation by Miriama Young.
