Well known playwright Chris Hannan will lead this workshop focusing on how characters reveal themselves through dialogue and how you can use dialogue to aid character development in your writing, whether you are writing plays, novels or short stories.

Chris Hannan

Chris Hannan's plays have been produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company, Sir Peter Hall at the Old Vic, the Traverse in Edinburgh, the Bush Theatre in London and the National Theatre of Scotland. They include Shining Souls, Elizabeth Gordon Quinn and The Evil Doers. The New York Times has tipped his first novel Missy to be one of this year's literary bestsellers.

Playwrights' Studio, Scotland

The Playwrights' Studio, Scotland is a national initiative designed to engage the people of Scotland directly with new playwriting and raise the standard of plays for presentation to the public.

As part of our open access policy, we regularly run activity for the public to open the door to playwriting and the work of our organisation. We run mentoring schemes to progress emerging playwrights and professional development for established playwrights.
