It wis a richt fine day in Banff on Seturday. If ye didna ken better ye micht think
that Simmer had arrived. Ah wis walkin thru the grunds o' Duff Hoose oan ma wey
tae the event fan ah spied, near a playgrund, a faimly haein a picnic. Ah'm forced
tae assume that they wis veesitors tae the North-East or they widna hae taen sic
a risk as early as 2nd May.
The event ah'm spikin aboot wis the launch o' Pushing Out the Boat No.8,
a magazine featurin writin an art wirk by North-East fowk. The writin is is Scots
an English which is baith unusual an welcome. This launch affair, attendit by aboot
50, wis weel set up an compered. It took place in a bonnie room in Duff Hoose that
would hae deen fine fur Lords an Ladies but providit a historic stage fur 20 writers
tae read fae stories an poems appearin in the mag. Writers fae teenage tae gettin
aul kep the room weel interestit fur the hale session which wis dividit by an interval
fur refreshments an buyin copies o' the publication.
Onywey, evin if the weather gets back tae normal, an the sna an rain returns, on
the eevidence o' the readin at Duff Hoose, ye micht dae waur than coorie doon wi'
a copy o' Pushing Out the Boat.
